Went with gvdub to Guitar Center today because he needed to pick up some gear. Saw the big holiday promotional display for DJ Hero. I'm sure gvdub must have told me about this product at some point - he writes the Buyer's Guides for GC DJ equipment - but I guess it slipped my mind. It looks like a neat game for what it is. I'm wondering how it relates to actualy DJing.

Have seen some really good guitar players trying to play Guitar Hero and messing up badly because notes in their head come out in a different place than notes in the game. Neil Peart, Rush's drummer, says he tried playing Rock Band once and got completely lost. According to him it's just a different process altogether. I would imagine the same is true for DJing. The gameplayer is following something whereas the person with an instrument or turntable is leading. I think.

Contemplating these things has me thinking of the electronic game Simon and a friend who would play badly because he liked the error tone it made when you messed up the sequence.

Well, since I had no responsibilities for this Loscon and since I had not been home for 22 years for Thanksgiving, I talked Bruce into going home to Kansas. We got the car packed and were on the road to Kansas. We left the cats with our friend, Marjorie, to care for them. We left Rancho Penasquitas at 11:30 and headed down the 8. We made Phoenix by 6 (time change), had dinner at Abuelo's and then made it to Flagstaff by 9:30 p.m.

3. We've upgraded from Beacon to Facebook Connect to improve dual posting. If you've already signed up for Facebook Beacon, you're good to go. If you wish to update your Facebook Connect setting, visit Account Privacy settings and scroll down to the option labeled: "Send information about my updates to Facebook." You can choose Always or Ask each time. Remember to save (on the bottom left corner of the page). To learn more, check out FAQ 249. 4. You'll now receive the Writer's Block Question of the Day in the body of email notifications. To sign up for Writer's Block notifications, visit writersblock and choose the Watch Community option. Next, update your Writer's Block notification settings by checking the box to the right of "Someone posts a new entry to writersblock."
5. Paid and permanent users can now view, add, and edit Notes of commenters. Notes will appear beside the username of comment posters (instead of stars) on S1-themed comment pages.
